Instructors with great influence can create positive change for rangatahi
Te Kura-a-Wao have a small team organizing training and courses throughout the year continuously. This gives them the ability to develop training plans to suit rangatahi needs from not only our region but other rohe around Aotearoa.
We have a data base of instructors from around Aotearoa who come in and help implement our courses throughout the year which provides fresh new skills and insights. We keep our consistency with our full time instructors and bring in our valuable supplementary instructors to add individual flare to our courses.
Operations Manager | Trustee
Keelan has taken on the role of operations manager for Te Kura-a-Wao charitable trust.
His main role involves designing and planning courses for The bush kura and also implementation of the programs.
He actively recruits instructors from around NZ to help implement these courses. He has a focus on driving rangatahi programs throughout the year.

- Previous mahi: Outdoor Instructor – Working with rangatahi in Gisborne
- Hobbies: Keelan is the event director of Maunga to Moana Adventure race up Mt Hikurangi
INSTRUCTING TEAM (SUPPLEMENTARY)
Our amazing team are assembled from all over New Zealand to help implement our courses when they are available. They bring with them various skills and knowledge in the outdoors and within their own life experiences and careers.
TE KURA-A-WAO TRUSTEES
CHAIR PERSON | Local Police constable in Ruatōrea, Boycie brings a wealth of local knowledge and skills to our trust and is great for maintenance and general up keep of our facilities.
Boycie has worked in many roles over the years working with rangatahi and at risk youth in various different areas.
TREASURER | Richard has years of knowledge working on boards and trusts and with a background in banking he is an asset for our Kura.
He enjoys the outdoors and sharing knowledge with the next generation.
TRUSTEE | With a background in sports, outdoors and working with rangatahi, Materoa provides a good insight for our trust and building for the future.
She has a huge passion for rangatahi and the Tairāwhiti recently representing the region in netball.
TRUSTEE | Morgan works in construction and has a solid set of skills and knowledge around infrastructure for the kura.
Morgan is keen to help create employable rangatahi for the future with high levels of skill and attributes.
TRUSTEE | Keelan is the link between the operations side and the trustees. His background in working with rangatahi adds value to the trust moving forward and he provides a hand with courses too.
Passionate about rangatahi, bush, moana and the outdoors this is a perfect role for Keelan.
SECRETARY | With a background in banking and insurance Ngawai is a great asset for our Kura. Her attention to detail is second to none and she provides a great level of accountability for trustees.
Ngawai would like to see a thriving community and believe it begins with our rangatahi.
